Role Overview
The SEA Business Development Director is responsible for driving business growth, expanding market presence, and leading sales initiatives across the SEA region. This role reports directly to the APAC President or Regional GM of SEA, collaborates with cross-functional teams, and manages a regional sales team to achieve ambitious revenue and market expansion targets. The Director will play a pivotal role in developing strategic plans, building key client relationships, and ensuring alignment with the company’s overall SEA strategy.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Business Development
- Develop and execute comprehensive business development and sales strategies tailored for the SEA region
- Identify new market opportunities, analyse industry trends, and provide actionable insights to senior management for competitive advantage
- Collaborate with regional and local management to ensure strategies align with broader company objectives
2. Sales Leadership and Team Management
- Lead, coach, and motivate the regional sales team to achieve and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets
- Oversee sales pipeline management, forecast accuracy, and ensure effective execution of sales activities
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and support professional development of team member
3. Client Acquisition and Relationship Management
- Originate and pursue new business opportunities, focusing on acquiring new clients and expanding existing accounts
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key clients, partners, and industry stakeholders
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to enhance brand visibility and foster partnerships
4. Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Marketing, Customer Service, and other internal stakeholders to optimize go-to-market strategies and deliver compelling value propositions
- Collaborate with other regional sales leaders to create synergies and maximize revenue across the organization
5. Operational Excellence
- Track and report on business development initiatives using KPIs and CRM systems, providing regular updates to senior management
- Ensure compliance with company policies, manage budgets related to business development, and drive cost efficiency
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Marketing, or a related field; postgraduate degree preferred
- 8-12 years of relevant sales/business development experience, with at least 3-5 years in a regional leadership role covering multiple SEA countries
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and driving business growth in competitive markets
- Strong B2B experience and expertise in leading both complex and transactional sales cycles
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, multicultural environment; willingness to travel within SEA as required
