The Cook / Senior Cook is responsible for assisting in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of a wide variety of dishes while maintaining the highest standards of food quality, hygiene, and safety. The role supports smooth kitchen operations, ensures consistency, and contributes to the overall dining experience for guests.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and cooking a variety of cuisines and dishes according to recipes and standards.
- Maintain consistent food quality, presentation, and portioning.
- Prepare raw cooking materials and all mise-en-place as required.
- Set up and stock kitchen stations before service.
- Support in cleaning, kitchen equipment maintenance, and practicing good personal hygiene.
- Clean food preparation areas, cooking surfaces, and utensils.
- Manage stock rotation and ensure proper food storage, preparation, and cooking temperatures.
- Accurately maintain any required food and temperature logs.
- Follow strict food safety and hygiene standards at all times.
- Assist with inventory management and restocking of ingredients when necessary.
- Follow instructions from the Head Chef and take feedback constructively.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations.
- Maintain flexibility to perform other duties and projects as required to support the hotel’s overall business objectives.
- Support the Head Chef’s direction on daily prep, service tasks, and menu execution.
Additional Responsibilities (Senior Cook)
- Supervise, guide, and train junior kitchen staff when required.
- Assist in menu planning, recipe development, and introduction of new dishes.
- Take greater responsibility for kitchen operations in the absence of the Head Chef / Kitchen Manager.
- Contribute ideas to improve workflow, efficiency, and food quality.
Requirements
- Relevant experience in kitchen operations; minimum 2–3 years for Senior Cook.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, kitchen equipment, and food safety standards.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Team player with good communication skills and a positive attitude.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
- For Senior Cook: Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to take ownership of kitchen responsibilities.
